Hans Ingelberts
Biography
Dr. Ir. Hans Ingelberts got his master’s degree in Electronics engineering with an option Photonics in 2007 from Vrije Universiteit Brussels. In the same year he started his professional career as electronics design engineer at wireless electronics company Option NV, continuing after hours in his home electronics lab, becoming a 24/7 electronics specialist. In 2010 he was offered the chance to rejoin his former thesis promotor Maarten Kuijk at the VUB-ETRO department for a PhD research into image sensors for fluorescence-lifetime imaging. In this research, Hans developed a novel, high-speed, high-efficiency, current-assisted pixel, the current-assisted photonic sampler (CAPS), optimized for fast-gated imaging of light such as fluorescence. After receiving his PhD degree in 2017, he remained at ETRO, to build a team and turn this pixel into a nanosecond time-domain camera and to develop fluorescence-lifetime imaging systems and applications. Currently he is supported by the Brussels region to launch this time-domain imaging technology into a new spinoff company.
