Biography
Simone Janssen graduated as a veterinary surgeon at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Ghent University (Merelbeke, Belgium). During her final years of veterinary medicine, as part of her master thesis, she focused on the application of thermal therapy in canine cancer patients with disseminated disease. In October 2021 she started a joint PhD in Medical Sciences (ICMI, VUB) and Veterinary Sciences (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ghent University) under the supervision of Prof. dr. ing. Sophie Hernot and Prof dr. Hilde de Rooster . Her research focuses on the potential and added value of fluorescence lifetime imaging during fluorescence-guided surgery, in veterinary surgical oncology and veterinary surgical urology.
